What I Wore - 21/7/13

So 2 Sunday nights ago I was out for the night with my best friends. We had such great fun and are really making the most of our summer holidays :)
Now on to the fashion side of things; what I wore:

1950's Shorts with Crop
My style is very much so vintage and shabby chick so when I found these shorts I fell in love. The gorgeous baby mango colour caught my eye first, this colour is huge right now and can be seen on style icons like Kate Middleton. Another thing I loved about these shorts is they are quite long. I personally am very much against wearing short shorts that are almost borderline panties, I find them quite unattractive on myself and feel they give out all the wrong vibes about yourself, but that's just my opinion. So I was delighted that these shorts covered me well up but still looked extremely fashionable at the same time; another vintage style trait I adore. Remember girls, it's still totally possible to look smoking hot without showing too much skin :)
I paired my shorts with a beautiful cream sleeveless crop top and mango and cream heels. I decided to wear very little jewelry, only a thick gold bangle and a gold leopard print watch. I decided to wear my hair in a cute simple long ponytail using my foxy locks hair extensions (the best hair extensions in my opinion), and I wore very little makeup.

Crop Top - €14 Newlook
Shorts - €25 Benetton (on sale)
Heels - €12 Forever 21 (on sale)
Jewelry - Gifts (I believe the watch is from river island)
Extensions - www.foxylocksextensions.com (tutorials and review to come soon :))

How to put on fake eyelashes.. The best way!

Ok so it's always been a struggle for me and I'm sure many others putting on eyelashes and getting them to stay on!
So here's a guide to help you put them on the best way.
Strip Lashes:
Any type of lashes you buy are usually fine! (Ones from Penneys/ Primark, Tesco, New Look wherever!) I personally prefer the ones that are less thick as opposed to the heavier strip lash! The most important thing to have when putting on both the strip lashes and the individual lashes is a tweezers.
So,
Firstly take the first strip lash out of the packaging gently by picking it up with the tweezers. Then measure it to your eye. Most strip lashes are made especially for the perfect shaped eye which is the almond shaped eye. There are many different shapes of eye which is why If you do not have this shape eye the lash line will need to be cut. To do this just simply get a nail scissors or any small scissors and cut off the part that goes over your natural lash line. Do not do this after placing it on your eye because you could cut off some of your own eyelashes!!
When you have got the perfect shape simply bend the strip lash a few times with your fingers so as to get rid of the shape that was designed for that almond eye. This will make it easier to fit it on to your eye.
Then, place the adhesive glue which should have come with the lashes onto the strip and wait a few minutes for the glue to dry in. Try not to get glue on the lashes just on the strip that will be placed on the lash line.
Once the glue has dried (it should take two minutes at the most) pick up the strip lashes with the tweezer and place gently on the natural lash line (the area where the eyelashes meet the skin). Press the fake lashes in gently with the back of the tweezers. This is the best way to do it so your not left with any bits poking out!

Individual Lashes:
Firstly, put a blob of the adhesive glue that should have come with the lashes on the back of your hand.
Pick up the first lash (the longest one in the packet) with a tweezers and dip the tip of the lash onto the glue on your hand. Place it on the lash on the outer corner of the eye. This is where you will start from (the outer lashes in towards the inner ones). Place the lash gently on the start of the natural eye lash (the part where the eyelash meets the skin). Do this with the rest of the eyelashes and work inwards!

Hope this helped! Video tutorial to come soon!!

HD Brows - My Experience

So today I got the famous HD Brows done. I've been looking forward to this all week. On Tuesday I went in to book my appointment and had to do a patch test for allergy purposes and was delighted when I showed no signs of allergies :)
Anyways, I'm here now to share my experience of my 1st HD Brow treatment. To start, it was nothing like I expected, it was incredibly relaxing. It began by the girl kindly talking me through each of the steps she would be taking in achieving my HD Brows and she asked me if I had any particular brow shape in mind that I would like, but I didn't so I left it up to her. She informed me of the goal of HD Brows which is to make the most of the your own brows. She explained to me that it was a process rather than an immediate change which I originally thought. There was beautiful soft and relaxing music playing in the background as she began the process. She began by measuring my eye brows and marking areas to ensure both brows would be the same the shape. She waxed the overgrown areas of my brows and she then began to thread my eyebrows. Threading is a technique which I have never experienced before and is extremely relaxing. Before applying the dye to my brows she kindly let me have a look to see if the brows were to my liking, which they were. When she was finished she handed me a mirror to talk me through the next steps in my process. She explained to me the areas of my brows in which she wanted me to grow and the areas in which she wanted me to keep plucked and clean. She then introduced me to the famous HD Brows palette and showed me how to use it to enhance my overall brow. She explained to me that soon enough my brows would be full and perfect and there would be no need for me to use any form of eyebrow powder or pencil. She asked me if I would like to purchase the HD Brow palette for only €25 and I was delighted.
Overall I was extremely delighted with the results I gained after only one treatment, and I'm excited for my next treatment in a couple of months time. HD Brows make a huge difference to a persons face shape and overall appearance, complimenting their prime facial features. At only €35 per treatment it's a bargain!

Summer Essentials

In the last couple of weeks here in Ireland we have been so blessed with blue sunny skies and temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees. While this weather is absolutly fabulous, we are not used to this and therefore we are not prepared. I'm here to share with you my summer essentials that I believe should get you through these sunny days.

Sun Cream
I cannot stress how important it is to wear sun cream, especially as the majority of Irish people will burn as our bodies are not equipped to cope in these high temperatures. What most people don't realise is that it's not the heat that will make you tan or burn, but rather the sun rays. So be extra cautious on days that there may be a nice cool breeze as most people would neglect suncream on those days and end up burning badly. Wearing suncream will not prevent you from getting a tan, only sunblock will, so no excuses girls! :) My favourite suncream is Malibu as it smells devine. You can pick this up at any supermarket or pharmacy.

From Penneys best to Ray Bans, sunglasses are sunglasses, and apart from being incredibly cute and stylish, they are a necessity in the sun. Sunglasses protect the most delicate area of your body, your eyes. UV light from sun rays can cause significant damage to eyes if they are not protected by sunglasses. They are the number 1 sign of ageing and can cause cataracts, an eye disease where the eye becomes opaque.

Lip Balm
Just like the rest of your skin, your lips also need a lot of protection against UV light from sun rays, which is why it's extremely important to use a lipbalm with SPF. This will help keep your lips looking and feeling soft and hydrated, and super pretty too which is always a plus! :) I recommend the balmi lipbalm collection as they have SPF. They come in many different colours and flavours, and their unique design and shape is very funky and cool for the summer. Currently I am using the mint green colour which has a minty flavour. I purchased mine online from beautymatters.ie

Moisturiser - Body and face
Moisturiser is very important during hot weather to keep your skin soft and hydrated. It provides your skin with all the nutrients needed for your skin to feel as healthy and good as it can be. Moisturiser is necessary to maintain a good complexion and prevent dry skin. My favourite moisturiser is Kaeso Balm
Mint Hydration which I always purchase at a beauty supply shop. It comes in a big bottle with a pump which will easily last you over 3 months, and it's very inexpensive at
about €10.

Waterproof Mascara
This is not exactly a summer essential but can come in handy for those of you who do not like to leave the house without makeup, rain or sunshine. Waterproof mascara is great for the hot weather because you tend to swear more which can cause your makeup to run. Also while at the beach or pool you can now dip in for a swim without worrying about black streaks running from your eyes. I use the collection 17 waterproof mascara as I feel it does the job just as well as the more expensive brands.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the hot weather :)

Bath & Bodyworks Stress Relief Lotion

If you're anything like me then you love to sit back and relax. Every now and then though I struggle to relax, feeling as though I've a million things running through my mind, I then become stressed out! This usually happens throughout life crisis', or exam time. For years I've tried everything from bubble baths to scented candles to long walks through the park, but nothing ever calmed me the way Bath & Bodyworks Stress Relief aromatherapy lotion.

I seriously swear by this stuff. The combined smell of eucalyptus and spearmint works well as an instant calming scent. With its easy pump lid its easy to apply and you only need to use the smallest bit to gain results. The smell also lasts a really long time, even after washing. With regard to people with allergies I would recommend testing a small bit 1st as the smell really is overpowering and may not be suitable and liked by everyone.

It also works really well as a body lotion to smooth and soften your skin, leaving your skin silky soft afterwards.
This product was a god sent for me throughout my exams as I was very nervous in the weeks prior to them. Each time before I sat down to study, or before I sat the exam I would rub some of this lotion on my neck and chest and it would keep me calm and focused throughout. Unfortunatly, like many other things, Bath & Bodyworks do not have a store in Ireland. I received this lotion as a gift from friend who visited the States. Thankfully you can purchase this lotion, and many other lotions, creams, body washes etc. on the bath and Bodyworks website for only $13, which extremely good value and lasts you a long time.

Victoria's Secret Body Mists

Since as long as I can remember I have been collecting body mists by Victoria's Secret. I have made my way through many bottles and I don't think I'll ever get sick of them. Each and every scent is so unique and beautiful. I believe these sprays are a must have because the smell is long lasting and you only need to apply a squirt or 2. I get so many compliments from passers by whenever I wear any of these mists out, so you will most certainly draw attention whilst wearing these. They're so handy to have with you in your handbag whilst out, instead of carrying around a heavy, and more expensive bottle of perfume. Unfortunatly there is no Victoria's Secret store in Ireland yet, so on my visits to London and other places I really do go over the top and stock up, but who can blame me? They smell incredible. At the moment I have about 14 bottles, all different scents. To pick just one favourite is impossible so I've narrowed it down to my 3 favourites.

1. Love Spell
This is one of the 1st scents I've ever purchased, and here 4 years later I'm still obsessed! Love Spell has a very sweet floral smell created from the combination of cherry blossom and peach. It has a very youthful scent to it and is perfect for everyday wear. I get numerous compliments from so many people everytime I wear this scent.

2. Aqua Kiss
When I 1st purchased this scent I wouldn't have classified it as one of my favourites, but over the summer months my opinion has completely changed. Aqua Kiss is one of the freshest scents I have ever smelt and was the perfect scent to bring with me on my holidays to sunny Spain. The combination of rain-kissed freesia and daisy gave off a very natural, almost ocean like scent, beautiful!

3. Delicate Petals
My final favourite has to be this gorgeous floral mist. Delicate petals is created from a combination of velvet rose and musk. I am addicted to floral scents and this has to be one of the most beautiful ones. Each and everytime I wear it, it feels as though I'm walking through a beautiful garden covered in roses. This beautifully natural scent suits any age and is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

You can pick these scents up at any Victoria's Secret store, or you can also shop online. They are very inexpensive (around €11 each), and last a really long time.

My Favourite Fashion Apps

Want to keep up to date with fashion no matter where you are? Find out many tips on the go? Well, there's an app for that. In fact there are many apps for that! The fashion and beauty industry is moving fast, and the smartphone world is moving faster. Whether you are interested in keeping up with the latest trends or looking for a few beauty tips to help you along the way, I guarantee you, you will find an app for your purpose. Like the majority of people today I am an app addict and I'm here to share with you my favourite beauty apps of the moment.

1. All Women Stalk
This app is my all time favourite! It has everything from beauty tips to fashion tips, fitness tips to LoveLife advice, and so much more! I cannot reccomend this app highly enough. And whats even better, its FREE! But beware, you will become addicted :D

This app is brilliant for keeping up to date with the latest fashion trends, news, reviews, catwalks and so much more. What's even greater is you can catch up on all the fashion news, reviews, etc right back to the year 2000. This app is also free, which is always a major plus :)

3. Pinterest
Everybody will love this app. Pinterest is a social networking site that allows you to 'pin' many images and videos to your wall. It's a great site to discover yourself and your inspirations and share then with others. It's a great way to collect everything you love to be stored in one place :)

They are my 3 favourite fashion apps, and I really reccomend you all to try them. I promise, you won't regret it!

Elle's Introductory

Hello dolls :)

I'm here to introduce myself! I'm Lorna, the Elle of the blog, and I'm 20 years young. My passion is fashion (excuse the rhyme), beauty and anything pretty. Me and Betty have been friends for about 17 years and we're so blessed to be able to do this blog together.
About myself, I am currently studying Business International with German in NUI Galway, I'm going into my 2nd year. The business world is a great interest of mine and the German language is one of my passions, ich liebe es! My dream is to be able to link my passion for beauty and fashion with my passion for business. I have a great interest in the information technology side of business so doing this blog is a great way for me to be in touch with that.
I have always had a huge interest in fashion, right back since I was a little girl. Me and Betty would always be dressing up and playing Barbies all day everyday which is why this blog means so much to us, especially because we are doing it together. I myself have a huge array of beauty gurus and bloggers that I look up to, and I hope to one day inspire you as they have inspired me.
I really hope you enjoy our blog and hopefully gain some inspiration from it :)

Start of our Beauty Blog

Hi :)

So I just quickly want to introduce myself since both myself and Lorna are just starting off on our blogging adventures!
I'm Betty, the "Bee", and I am so excited to be starting this blog. I'm 19 and I love everything fashion, make up and anything on trend! Both myself and Lorna have been friends for most of our lives (we met in pre-school and have been best friends ever since) so it's great to be able to do this blog together!
About myself, I am currently studying in the International School of Make Up Artistry in Ireland and I am just about to start my exams to hopefully (fingers crossed!!) get my diploma. I love doing other people's make up, the thrill of having a million different looks to choose from and being able to perfect different looks is very rewarding. So far, I've learnt Day, Bridal, Evening, Era, Fashion and Glamourous Make Up. These are all different looks that can be changed around and used for anything (e.g: Day Look can be darkened to be made into an evening look with just bolder colours). I hopefully will be able to share most of my tips and what I've learnt with you!
I myself have taken tips from YouTube tutorials and Instagram pics so it is great to be able to share our ideas with each other!
I also will be doing blogs on plus size fashion.. The what not to wear and how to wear it!
I cannot wait to get started ;)

So for now,

Betty xxx

'My Skin' Facewash review

After turning 20 I'm beginning to feel a little bit on the old side, but thankfully my skin still feels young and fresh as if I'm 16 years old again. I'm blessed to have never had any trouble with my skin, apart from the odd spot now and again, my skins in great condition. A bit of background information: I've got normal skin which tends to get dry from time to time, usually from a lack of care but recently I've tried to look after my skin a bit better. I don't believe in spending tons of money on skin care products which are deemed 'the best' because everybodies skin is different. What works great for one person could have disastrous results on another.
Recently while I was wandering around tesco looking for a face wash to fit under my €5 budget I came across a brand called 'My Skin', the €2.95 price tag caught my eye. So I said I'd try it out.

I think I'm obsessed! I can't understand how I've never heard of this brand before. First off the smell is amazing, then again 'with dandelion and marshmallow extracts' where can you go wrong. The smell is refreshing, very fruity and sweet but not overwhelming. It left my face feeling incredibly soft, unlike the more expensive brands I have tried prior to this which left my face feeling tight and uncomfortable. The packaging for this product is very pretty, and looks very professional, another aspect that really caught my eye.

I use this product twice a day; first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I apply a pea sized amount to wet skin, massage gently into my face concentrating on my most problematic areas, and rinse thourougly with luke warm water.

The only thing I found quite odd about this product is that it's a cream Facewash rather than a gel, therefore it doesn't lather like the typical Facewash that I'm used to, but that doesn't bother me. All in all I'm extremely satisfied with this product and I can see myself continuing to use it, and at €2.95 I'd be mad not to!

What I wore

Hello dolls!

Hope everyone's enjoying the fab weather we are so blessed to have at the moment. As you all know ireland is experiencing a heat wave at the moment and as a result all us fashion addicts are doing everything we can to get use out of our pretty summer clothes :) On Sunday night I enjoyed a gorgeous BBQ in the evening sunshine with some of my closest friends, and I'm here to share with you what I wore.
I was determined to make use of the beautiful bright summer colours that have recently taken over my wardrobe. I opted for a vibrant orange top matched with a pair of silk patterned shorts. I'm usually a comfort before style type of girl but recently I was in Penneys and saw a pair of the most gorgeous strappy sandles that I just had to have! Although quite uncomfortable I really think they just made the outfit, and for a couple of hours of pain I knew they would be worth it was worth it :D
I opted for a cute, neat bun and bangs for my hairstyle which I felt worked perfectly as the outfit itself was quite overwhelming. For the Jewelry I kept it quite simple with a chunky gold necklace and delicate gold bracelets.
My makeup was quite natural as my objective was to create a natural sun kissed look.
With a squirt of the beautiful Daisy by Marc Jacobs I was good to go  and enjoy myself, and that's exactly what I did :)

Love,
Lorna x
