Bee's Daily Skincare Routine ❤

My daily skincare routine was once non-existent and I will admit I used to wash my face with baby wipes (this is a terrible idea because it dries out and destroys your skin). So I've learnt the right way to properly clean your face to ensure better results!

Step 1: Eye Make-Up Remover
You only need to do this step if you are taking off your make-up but what I do is I put the eye make up remover onto cotton wool and gently rub it onto my eyelids and around my eyes being very careful because your eyes are very sensitive. I then get a cotton bud and place another piece of cotton wool directly under the eye with the eye closed to wipe the mascara off with the cotton bud onto the cotton wool.

Step 2: Cleanser
When I'm in a rush I find that even just using cleanser is beneficial in itself with the removal of make up and cleaning your skin. I put some cleanser onto my clean hands and gently massage it around my face massaging it into certain areas and making sure I'm fully removing the makeup. I then get two very slightly damp pieces of cotton wool and remove the cleanser bringing with it the excess makeup. I usually do this twice to make sure my makeup is completely gone

Step 3: Toner
Toner is very good because it closes any open pores and gets rid of excess makeup. I just simply apply some toner to a piece of cotton wool and rub it around my face focusing on any open pores or spots. Be careful though if it is your first time using toner in a while it can stung but this usually wares off after a few uses but if it doesn't it means your skin is having a chemical reaction to it so make sure you get one suited to your skin type!

Step 4: Moisturiser
This is my favourite part of my skin care routine because it allows your skin to become more soft and supple. I just add a small amount to my hands and gently massage it into my skin avoiding the areas around my eyes.

Step 5: Eye Gel
Because the skin around your eyes is 5 times more sensitive than the skin on your face you must use an eye gel instead of moisturiser. I just put a pea size amount of it on my finger and dab it onto the area around my eyes keeping my eyes closed.

Because we all have different skin types I can't recommend any specific type of cleanser, toner etc because each skin type requires a different product i.e someone with dry skin should get an oil based product for their skin.

However the products I use are from the "Hair and Beauty Salon" shops located around Ireland and they are suitable for all skin types depending on whether you have any skin allergies etc. Kaeso Beauty is the name of the products and they are big tubes that have lasted me ages and will last for months or even a year so they are very cost effective!

Also, one of my favourite products for skin care that I swear by is "Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Treatment Cream". If I have any random annoying spots that I want to get rid of I just apply a pea size amount onto the spot and leave it over night. I usually give it 1 or 2 nights and it usually does work!

Ok so I hope some of these tips help! :)

Homesickness: Elle's Experience and Advice ♡

So September is coming to an end, a month of change for many. Many of you have begun your transition from the comforts of your childhood home to the world of freedom that is College Life. Some of you may have adjusted easily, others not so much. This time last year, unfortunatly, I did not adjust, and I'm here to share with you my experience to help you out.

After opening my Leaving Cert results and the realization hit me that I had made it to college, I was absolutely delighted, I began packing almost immediately, I couldn't wait to move in to my new home and begin a new chapter of my life. All those happy emotions quickly changed on my first night there. I'm quite a shy person to start with and last year I never really went out partying to the extent that everyone else did, so living in student accommodation should have set alarm bells ringing from the very beginning. I remember lying in bed on my first night on my own in my room, loud music blaring from every apartment around me, people shouting outside my window, and one guy even deciding to use the bush outside my window as his own personal toilet - yuck! I remember walking to college on my first day trying to fight back the tears that resulted from tiredness, homesickness, and thinking to myself 'Why me? Why can't I fit in and adjust?'. My housemates were lovely and very easy to get on with but unfortunatly we just didn't spend enough time together, and we all just ended up staying in our rooms. I lived for the weekends where u could just go home and be with my family, and be in familiar surroundings. After that first night I'd say I stayed there only about 11 more times and each of those times I experienced the same thing. I spent from September to November staying at friends houses who lived at the other side of the city and staying with my aunty who lived half an hour away from the city, and only using my apartment as a place to keep all my stuff, but the extent that I had to go to was worth it! Finally in November I took a stand and moved out of the place that caused me so much emotion and I moved in with my best friend who luckily had an extra bed in her room. From that moment on I was happy, I began to enjoy college life and I really began to mature and change for the better.

Obviously there is more to that story but it's a very long path in my life that I'd rather forget. Nevertheless that chapter in my life shaped me and inspired me to be the person I am today. I have gained a lot if experience from that period of time that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

For those of you who struggle with homesickness, I know what you are going through and it does get better, trust me. Surround yourself with friends and good times! Everyone gets homesick, whether they show it or not. I know it feels like your the only one exoeriencing it and that you feel like the odd one out, well your not. There are many others going through the same emotions as you, some just find it easy to hide it that's all.

If any of you are feeling homesick at all and need somebody to talk to then email us at ellebeelooks@gmail.com , we'd be delighted to hear from you ♡

Until next time...

To Arthur - What I wore ❤️

So it was Arthur's day yesterday, a day that gives you permission to drink all day and not get judged; a day created by Arthur - the founder of Guiness! Being irish myself it would be very rude not to join in on the celebrations, Arthur would not be impressed! Unfortunatly I didn't head into the 17:59 celebrations in the city, but I did however celebrate it in style that night with my friends. And speaking of style, here's what I wore:

Last week while browsing around my local Tescos with my friend I came across a very plain, shapeless chiffon smock top with a rope around the waist. Many people wouldn't look at this twice but something about it told me that with a few personal touches I could make it into something really pretty, and I think I did a good job in trying to achieve that look. I accessorised it with a simple silver torc, and I wore my favourite strait black heels to match. I choose to wear my hair slightly curled and tossed to the side, and very natural makeup.

What do you all think? :)

Distressed Uk - Look it, Feel it, Love it

I'm always on the lookout for new brands and stores, both on and offline. I love the feeling of purchasing something that you know not many others will have, because being your own person and being unique is very important. Recently I stumbled upon a brand I've never heard of before called Distressed UK. They create accessories based on the 90's grundge era, so expect to find very fun, unique and quirky pieces. You are sure to find many amazing statement pieces on their site at a very very affordable price!

My favourite piece to date on their site is a simple chunky gold chain. I feel everyone should have one of these as they just add that perfect finishing touch to any outfit. You can wear it with a dress to add a quirky, unique touch, or simply (as I have done) with a jumper, beanie and jeans to add that finishing touch easily to an everyday outfit.

I styled this chain with a Boy London jumper which can be purchased from Boy London, dark super skinnies from Topshop, simple white converse, and a plain black beanie.

This chain can be purchased from www.distresseduk.com for only £9.99, and here is the link http://distresseduk.com/gold-chunky-chain-necklace.html ❤️

Happy shopping!

St Ives Apricot Scrub Review ♡

Recently I noticed my skin becoming dry and have had a few breakouts which is completely abnormal for me. I believe it's down to how much exposure I had to the sun this summer, from being in Spain and Portugal, and just being out in the unusually fabulous weather Ireland was blessed with this summer. So I began my search for a product that would fix this problem, and I didn't have to look too far. While shopping in my local tesco I came across St Ives apricot scrub which was on sale reduced to €2.50. I have heard of this brand numerous of times from many beauty bloggers and youtubers, and yes I am aware that this has been on the market for quite a long time, but this has been my 1st time using it and I want to share my thoughts with you :)

First off, the smell is absolutely devine. There's a strong but not overwhelming smell of apricots and it leaves your face feeling fresh and natural. I always think the smell of a product is very important, especially in face care products as that's where you would notice it the most.

The texture of St Ives apricot scrub is quite rough. Since it's a 'scrub' I feel it's texture matches perfectly. Infused with little tiny beads which are perfectly ideal for washing them imperfections away. The colour is a beige/peach colour which you would expect from apricots and it has little tiny brown specks in it.

To use St Ives Apricot scrub is very simple, all you have to do is wet your face and squeeze a pea sized amount of the scrub onto your hands and scrub into your face, a little bit goes a long way! I find using my fingertips in a circular motion works best. Be very careful around your eyes when using this product as it can be very painful and harmful if entered in your eye, as it would be just like getting a grain of sand in your eye and could result in scratching your eye.

St Ives Apricot scrub is a very simple and easy product to use and leaves your skin feeling evenly smooth, soft and fresh - you'll be wondering why you never used this product before! I do recommend, however, that you purchase the smallest bottle first to test it out as St Ives isn't for everyone, and many may turn out to dislike the product. Having a trial run and everything is always very important.

All in all St Ives Apricot scrub has worked tremendously well on me, cleared up my skin and left it feint smooth and fresh. I will definitely be purchasing it again, amoungst many more of their products, in the near future.

Till next time...

My Study Tips ❤️

So a lot of people always ask me how I'm so calm coming up to exam time, and why I never seem to have to stay up endlessly night after night cramming as much information into my head as I possibly can. I don't think I have ever studied passed 10pm at night, and even that is too late to be up studying. I feel the key to success is studying continuously, and I mean it. Here are a few of my tips that have helped me achieve the grades that I want to achieve:

1. Start from the beginning
Although this may seem obvious, most people do not follow this rule. Start studying from the beginning of the year, every lecture and class counts. Although you may feel that some classes were pointless and that you don't have to take anything in from them, that's where you are going wrong. Remember, these are the people who are setting your exam paper, so everything they say is crucial; you'd be a fool not to listen to them.

2. Do a bit every night
Doing an hour or 2 of study each night, and maybe giving yourself a break at the weekends, will benefit you hugely come exam time. Imagine only doing an hour study each night and come exam time only having to read over your notes, compared to countless hours of cramming the night before the exam? Study doesn't have to be boring - watch a youtube video about the topic your studying to spice things up a bit, read a magazine/newspaper article related to your studies, or even do a little pop quiz for yourself. Self study is the most beneficial study you can do and it will truly reflect within your exam paper and it will show the examiner that you have ran the extra mile to impress them.

3. You're doing this for a reason
Remember, nobody is forcing you to study, you are doing this for a reason. Whether you're in secondary school preparing for the junior or leaving cert and hoping to make it into 3rd level, or you're in college studying a course that YOU chose to do, remember why you're studying and keep your end goal in your line of vision. With regards college, remember that YOU chose the course you are doing, nobody else chose it for you, therefore work at it, if you don't then why did you choose to do it in the first place?

4. Your study haven
This tip is really important. You need to make sure that you have your own personal place to study, a place that you are comfortable studying in and that you feel brings out the hard working person inside of you. It is true that where you study affects how you study. If you are chopping and changing your study routine then you will never take anything in because each and everyday you'll subconsciously spend most of your time adjusting to the new environment and your mind will be elsewhere instead of being focused on your studies.

5. Stay organised
Organisation is key to studying successfully. Ensure that you have all your notes filed away for easy access come exam time. Buy a copy, folder, poly pockets, etc... whatever it takes to keep your notes in order. Also, make sure if you miss something to catch up, every big of notes you have makes your life a hell of a lot easier come exam time.

6. What works for you
This is really important. You need to discover the method of study that works best for YOU. Everyone study's differently; some read over notes and just know it, others practice questions, etc... Nobody can teach you how to study, that's a trait you must learn for yourself.

I hope this blogpost has helped you in some way and good luck ❤️

Lorna xxxx

How to Contour, Highlight and know what Face Shape you have ❤

Hey! ❤

So later on, when I have enough free time on my hands I'm hoping to do a proper tutorial on how to contour and highlight on Youtube! But for now I said I'd do a blog post for the curious because I know before I started my make up artistry course I didn't even know what contouring was!! Basically to contour is to detract the eye from a certain area of the face and to highlight is to attract the eye to a certain area you want to enhance on the face (light attracts, dark detracts!). Although this all sounds quite simple, the main thing you need to realise is that there are different rules for different face shapes! So here is a list of exactly what you need to do for each face shape and how to recognise which face shape you have!

Oval face shape
This is ideally the perfect shaped face! It has:
• an equal distance from hairline to eyebrows, eyebrows to tip of nose and nose to chin
• a wider forehead than jawline
• prominent cheekbones
• an oval chin

What you should do:
Because this is the ideal face shape there is not many corrections you have to make although you can:
• apply blusher, just under the ball of the cheekbone, directly below the iris and extend it in a smooth arc towards the ears
• there's no need to contour as there is already prominent cheekbones!

Diamond face shape:
An example of someone with a diamond face shape is Victoria Beckham. It has:
• a narrow forehead
• a narrow jawline
• is widest at the cheeks

What you should do:
• apply a highlighter at an angle/with an angler brush to both side of the forehead
• apply a highlighter(or it can be a lighter shade of foundation) at an angle from the middle to the bottom of the jawline
• Apply blush to the ball of cheek and then out towards the middle of your ear in a crescent shape. Blend

Heart
Celebrities with this type of face shape are Rihanna and Kim Kardashian. It is:
• widest at the forehead
• tapered down to the cheeks
• narrow at the chin, sometimes pointed

What you should do:
• apply darker foundation/ bronze on either side of the forehead
• contour under the cheekbones in an L shape
• apply blush slightly under ball of cheek and towards the ear

Round
Kelly Clarkson is a good example of someone who has a round face shape. It's:
•width is the same as its length
•forehead is quite short
•cheeks are wide
•jaw is quite round

What you should do:
• apply darker foundation in an arc either side of the forehead
•apply darker foundation on either side of the jawline up to the tip of the ear to eliminate fullness
• blush on ball of cheek and extend outwards towards temples near the hairline

Square
Kate Middleton is a great example of someone with a square shaped face. It's:
• width of the cheeks and forehead are similar
•forehead is quite short
•cheeks are wide
•jaw is quite round

What you should do:
•Apply a darker shade of foundation on either side of the forehead and blend
•Apply a darker foundation/ brown blush on either side of the jawline and blend
•Apply blush to the ball of the cheek and blend toward the top of the ear
•Contour under cheekbone

Rectangular/Long:
Sarah Jessica Parker is a great example of someone with a long face shape.  It's:
•Width of forehead and cheeks is similar
•jawline is quite prominent
•face is longer than wide

What you should do:
•Apply a darker foundation/brown blush either side of the forehead and either side of the jawline and blend
•Apply blush on ball of cheek and blend towards middle of ear (keep brush higher up on the cheekbones for this face shape)

These are all the basic face shapes but if you are still unsure as to which one you have you could have a mixture of two different types. The main thing to remember is to contour the features of the face you want to try to lessen and highlight the ones that you would like to enhance! :)

Hope this helps and feel free to email or write to me if you've any other questions about this!

Love,
Betty

What's on my iPhone?

I've decided to do a 'Whats on my iPhone' blogpost, where I basically show you what apps I use, wallpaper I have, layout of my phone, etc.. I've seen this blogpost done quite a lot by some of my favourite bloggers, some do it through a youtube video which I would love to do but unfortunately I don't have a good enough quality camera for that yet. This blogpost is going to be quite long as I have a lot of apps on my phone, so bear with me :)

Before I begin; I have a white iPhone 4S which I received as a gift in Christmas 2011, so almost 2 years ago. I have taken extreme care of it, other than a minuscule mark on the bottom right hand corner of the front face, it's in perfect condition :) So lets get started...

My cover at the moment for my iPhone is one I purchased on eBay for €10. It's a Marc by Marc Jacobs one, and I love it so much as its such a fun looking cover ❤

First of all my lock screen has a picture of me and my 2 best friends at the night of my 20th birthday back in June. After moving back up to college I really miss my best friends, so I changed my wallpaper to remind me of how lucky I am to have such great friends in my life.

My wallpaper of my home screen is none other than cupcakes of course! Incase you didn't know this, I have a serious obsession with cupcakes. They're so yummy, cute and pretty and I just love them. I found this cute wallpaper on Pinterest and fell immediately in love with it :)

As you can see from the above pictures I have my apps completely organised into folders. On the first page of apps I have my main apps such as safari for Internet, calander, photos, mail, calculator, clock, stocks, reminders, settings, contacts, weather, notes, iTunes, videos; these are my main apps that I use from day to day and that I need to be able to access easily. On my second page of apps I have given each folder a title and a cute emojii icon to help me identify easily where each app is when needed. My bottom bar of apps has my phone, messages, music and camera - these are the apps that I use every single day which is why I have placed these in the main bar.

My Folders:

1. Utilities
In my folder entitled Utilities I keep the apps that I rarely use but keep because they came with the phone, such as: Compass, Voice Memos, Find my iPhone and Passbook. The only useful app out of all these I find is the Find my iPhone app. I reccomended everyone who has an iPhone should have this app as it enables you to find where your iPhone is if you lost it from a family members or friends laptop or iPhone. Ensure you hook this app up with a persons iPhone that you can trust.

2. Fashion
Now what fashion blogger doesn't have fashion apps? I already did a blogpost awhile back on my favourite fashion apps so I'm not going to go into detail on any of these, but my all time favourite fashion app is still All Women Stalk. It has so many posts on anything and everything every woman would be interested in and I really recommend that if you have a smartphone to definitely give it a go and download it! And then of course I like to keep up to date on my favourite stores and what they have in stock such as River Island, Coast, etc... So I just download their apps :)

3. Education
I'm very into my education and study, I know I'm a bit on the nerdy side, but come on keeping up with study is so worth it in the end. So of course I have myself an education folder. Most of if consists of language apps to help improve my German, I have my student mail app for easy access to emails from lecturers, classmates, etc... And the Blackboard app which is our online interactive educational system at NUI Galway. I also download many apps to help with my modules such as T & F Online for organisational behaviour journals, and Economics Doctionary to help me learn terms for economics.

4. Social
This is the folder where I keep all my social networking apps. It consists of Facebook which I rarely use as I find the Facebook app extremely irritating on the iPhone as it keeps crashing and freezing. Then comes Twitter which is probably my most used social networking app, I love Twitter (find us on twitter @ElleBeeBlog ) ❤ . What's App comes next which I rarely use, I only have it because some of my friends have blackberrys and its a free way to text them rather than racking up my bill on normal text messages. Then comes the wonderful Instagram; who doesn't live Instagram? I'm obsessed with finding new people to follow, especially fashion and beauty bloggers as their pictures give me inspiration on what I do. Pinterest is also a huge favourite of mine, but unfortunately it's not as popular here in Ireland as it would be elsewhere. It's basically just an inspiration social network where you can share pictures of quotes, fashion, interior, etc.. I can spend endless hours on this before I go to sleep at night ❤ The rest of the apps in this folder, Snapchat, Skype, Find my Friends, Vine and My Meteor, I rarely use but it's still nice to have them there as I may wander on to them from time to time.

5. Random
Everyone has them few apps that are just there, that don't belong to a category and are used very rarely. I have collected all these apps and put them into a 'Random' folder. This folder includes the Skyskanner app which I highly reccomended as it helps you find the cheapest price for any flight to and from any destination on any given date. The google translate app is also another very handy app to have especially for me studying German as its a quick and easy way to double check what a word means or how a word is spelt in a different language. Other apps in this folder include Mobile Print which is an app that comes with my laser printer, group-on which is an Irish app offering many vouchers for goods, ulster bank app, fitness app, and a character app which I use to get heart shapes, star shapes, etc.. like this - ❤

6. Photo
This is one of my favourite folders, filled with all my favourite photo related and editing apps. Prank Mirror, Face Swap and Hair Colour Booth are all fun apps that you could spend hours on having a great time. Hair Colour Booth is so handy for helping you decide what colour you should dye your hair next as you just simply take a photo of yourself and then pick whatever colour you'd like your hair to be, and you can also add in highlights, dip dye, etc... Photo Loader is the app I use for uploading numerous of photos to Facebook as it is fast and easy to use. Lumie is my all time favourite photo editing app, it allows you to add in hearts, glitter, stars, dots, etc.. over your photos to make them cute and pretty. Diptic is another app I use a lot that allows you to create a collage of photos to easily upload on Instagram, Facebook, twitter, etc...

7. Entertainment
Ironically my entertainment folder isn't so entertaining consisting if only 3 apps that I never ever use. The apps are iBooks which I used to use alot when I first got my iPhone but since I have realised how much more I enjoy having an actual book in my hand while reading, Podcasts which came with the iPhone and I don't think I have ever used it if even know how to use it, and lastly Shazam which identify any song from listening to a snippet of it and I only use this if I really want to know the name of a song, which is very rarely!

8. Games
The one thing I never really did get in to was gaming apps. The ky game I ever play is Temple Run, and I know that it is so old now at this stage but its definitely one of my guilty pleasures to sit down and have a game of Temple Run. I have never used the game centre that comes with the iPhone as I'm just not that into gaming, but I do enjoy the odd game of Solitare which is why I downloaded the Solitare app :D

9 & 10. Navigation and Music
I decided to put these 2 together as I never really use either of these folders so I don't have much to say on either of them. In the navigation folder I have the maps which came with the iPhone and I also downloaded google maps as I find them much more helpful and better overall. In my music folder I have Tune-in radio which has every station in the world so I try to listen to the German radio stations to help improve my listening skills in German, again - nerdy I know!! I also have the iTube app which allows you to download youtube videos and save them so you can listen and watch then even when you have no Internet.

11. Elle Bee
And last but most certainly not least I have a folder of all the apps needed to keep up to date with all of you with regards our Elle Bee Blog. I have the Google+ app that allows me to interact with the people in our google circles who follow us. Of course I have the Blogger app where it all started, and is the site we use for our blogs. I have the Pages app to keep up with all our subscribers on Facebook, which we update daily with inspiration quotes, fashion tips, competitions, pictures and of course our blogposts. And lastly I Haverhill Bloglovin app which helps me discover new blogs to follow and look up to, and also helps me to share our blog with the world ❤

So thats it, thats my iPhone ❤ Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blogpost, and I hope you enjoyed it.
