Benefits of Running

Everybody knows there are many benefits of running. Sure why else would we put ourselves through it? But what many of us don't realise is that there are many more benefits of running than we know. Yes of course it's easy to focus on that slimming waist line and former looking body, but here's a few benefits you may not know that will get you running miles on end when you learn.

1. Helps you sleep
Running and sleeping have been tested side by side many times, and it has been proven that people who run tend to get a better nights sleep and find falling asleep much easier than those who do not run. This effect even lasts throughout days that a person does not go on a run.

2. Weight Loss
Of course weight loss needed to make an appearance as it is the prime reason a person goes for a run. Going on a run can burn about 300/400 calories, which is pretty amazing and totally worth it. Running helps to sculpt your body and build muscles suited to your body shape.

3. Improves Mental Health
Running has brilliant benefits with regard to your mental health. It can have huge effects on your mood and is sometimes used as a treatment of mild depression. It has been proven to lift your mood and spread happiness throughout your body. So dust of the trainers and take a run, you'll feel much better after, I promise.

4. Prevents osteoporosis
Running regularly puts pressure on your bones and muscles which is actually a good thing. It helps strengthen your bones and muscles leading them to defend themselves much easier from osteoporosis which leaves the chances of obtaining osteoporosis very low!

5. Clear skin
Running stimulates the complexion  improving how quickly and efficiently nutrients are carried around the body. The fresh air obtained from running also helps leave the skin feeling fresh. Running pevents ageing and helps keep your skin looking clear, and feeling smooth and soft.

6. Performance
Running stimulates your brain and helps you perform better. You'll see an improvement with regard work performance and study.

7. Stress
Running helps prevent stress. If you can develop a healthy running routine it helps you to deal with life stresses and strains. Running reduces cortisol levels, a chemical that causes fat to collect around the stomach, this is released during times of stress.

8. Anxiety
Exercise  reorganises the brain to help reduce anxiety. It stimulates excitable neurons. It's proven that people who run tend to be less anxious than those who don't.

As you can see running has more benefits than meets the eye, and has even more that I haven't mentioned such as benefits to your heart health, and immune system. So what are you waiting for? Get out them trainers and get active - it's totally worth it ♡

Love,

  1. Not to not pick but the average run burns more like 200/300 kcal depending on your weight. I wish it would burn 1000! I only know because I worked in a gym for 4 years.
